One of the major obstacles to HyperTEK motor system ownership is the perceived high cost of the Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This system of valves and electrical controls sells for $550, and is required for fill and launch of any HyperTEK motor system. As hybrid motors grow in popularity, more and more clubs have GSE available for members, so the cost is not an issue. However, if your club has not yet purchased a system, or if you fly by yourself, you must get GSE.

This is a comparision table of the larger motors usually used to certify at Level 3, the highest NAR/TRA certification level. The comparison uses list pricing, discounts of all components are usually possible. It assumes you must purchase GSE. The Hypertek system does also require bottles of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen. These can be rented for a few dollars a month, or purchased for about $200. I used 10 pounds @ $3/lb as the N20 requirement per flight, this allows considerable waste after filling the 8 lb motor.
